iPhone Game Review – Gin Rummy Deluxe
Gin Rummy has always been one of my favorite card games. These days I mostly play Old Maid and Go Fish but when I get a few minutes with my wife we play Gin.
I’ve been quite surprised that there hasn’t been a good Gin game on the iPhone so I was happy to see that PressOK recently released Gin Rummy Deluxe on the iPhone.
If you’re not familiar with how to play Gin, there is a straightforward tutorial that walks you through gameplay. If you know how to play, the first thing you do is create an avatar which will be your representation in the game. Once you’ve created your avatar you get matched up against one of the in-game players which include various humans and a panda.
One of the entertaining parts of the game is the ability to taunt your opponent and they taunt you back. You select from a drop-down of pre-selected taunts.
The gameplay is very straightforward and the artwork is solid. I would like to be able to add my own taunts to the game and I would like to be able to sort the cards manually (vs. the three ways the game lets you) but otherwise I don’t have too many suggestions to improve the game. It’s fun.
PressOK is selling it for an introductory price of $2.99 from iTunes. If you’re a fan of Gin Rummy, give it a shot!
