Sony Ericsson’s Premier 3 Walkman Phone Rips Directly From CDs via 3.5mm Jack
If you can get past the hot pink, Sony Ericsson’s Premier 3 Walkman phone has a really cool look. Plus it has some interesting features—including the ability to rip music directly from a CD.
galleryPost(’premier3′, 3, ”); The Premier 3 is part of Japanese phone company KDDI’s Spring 2009 line-up and it features a beautiful 3″ (480×854l) display, 3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, GPS, Infrared and a dedicated remote control. If you want to rip music from a CD, all you need to do is plug the player into the remote via a 3.5mm plug and you are good to go.
With such a large screen and MP3 capability, you would think that the Premier 3 has the potential to be an awesome portable media player—but Sony Ericsson inexplicably shot themselves in the foot with a MicroSD slot that can only handle 2GB cards (there is only 50MB onboard). What a waste. Pricing and release information have not been announced. [Impress via Newlaunches and Akihabara News]

Capcom Announces Resident Evil: Degeneration

Capcom Mobile announced the upcoming release of its next Resident Evil title, a mobile game adaptation of the soon-to-be-released CG-animated movie Resident Evil: Degeneration.
The game places players in the role of Leon Kennedy (previous star of Resident Evil 2 and RE4), who finds himself trapped in an airport filled with zombies, mutated dogs, and other undead creatures. Players can expect to find multiple weapons throughout the game’s 50-mission campaign.
Capcom notes that Degeneration is exclusive to mobile platforms, with no ports apparently planned for consoles or portables. “Mobile is the only place where fans can play Resident Evil: Degeneration and experience this thrilling story from a unique adrenaline-fueled perspective,” says Midori Yuasa, president, Capcom Interactive, Inc.
No specific release date has yet been set for the mobile version of Degeneration, though Capcom promises that the title will debut in North America and the UK “by the end of the year.” Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the Resident Evil: Degeneration movie on DVD and Blu-ray formats on December 27, 2008.
